Fremont Motorcycle Driver Dies in Grand Rapids Crash

On Thursday July 1, 2010, a male motorcyclist was killed in a Grand Rapids motorcycle crash. Michigan police said the accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on 28th Street SE in front of a McDonald's parking lot.

The man who was killed was identified as twenty-one-year-old Joshua Cook of Fremont. Authorities said that a lady pulling out of the McDonald's parking lot in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt didn't see the motorcycle, and she pulled out in front of him. The driver of the Cobalt was forty-three-year-old Kim Aguirre of Lake Odessa.

Michigan police stated the motorcycle was headed westbound on 28th Street near the I-96 ramp when the Chevy attempted to turn east, and the front left side of the car crashed into the westbound motorcycle. The driver of the Chevy received minor injuries as the airbag deployed, injuring her arm. She was traveling with a male passenger who was not injured and whose identity is unknown.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing his helmet, which they found lying in the road. Sadly, Cook died immediately at the scene. Police don't know if high speeds were a factor, and they are still investigating this Michigan motorcycle crash.
