1 critically injured when car crashes into gas pump in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - A car accident at a gas station on the east side of Indianapolis left one person hospitalized, according to WTHR.   

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene Wednesday morning at a Valero gas station near the intersection of North Sherman Drive and East Michigan Street.

Two cars were involved in a collision there sometime before 5 a.m.  One of the cars hit a gas pump and reportedly caught fire.  At least one person was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. 

One of the drivers involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.  That driver was taken to a hospital to have blood drawn.

A stretch of North Sherman Drive was shut down while the crash scene was being cleared and investigated.
