Bicyclist, 85, dies after being struck by vehicle in Carmel

CARMEL, IN - An accident in Carmel last week claimed the life of an elderly bicycle rider, according to WISH-TV

Police said the victim was struck by a vehicle Friday morning at about 10:19 a.m. while riding in the area of West Main Street and Towne Road. An investigation determined that a male juvenile driver was making a turn from Towne Road onto West Main Street and struck the bicyclist on a multipurpose path.

The victim, identified as 85-year-old Gioacchino Mutone, was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead later in the afternoon.

The Carmel Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
