Motorcyclist killed in collision with SUV in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, IN - Authorities responded to the scene of a crash in Hancock County that claimed the life of a motorcyclist, WXIN reports.

The accident happened Thursday night on US 52 near New Palestine shortly before 7:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation found that the driver of a Cadillac Escalade was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot to get onto US 52 near Creekside Drive and entered the path of a westbound Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The motorcycle crashed into the driver's side of the SUV.  The motorcyclist, identified as 60-year-old Timothy Bossard of Greenfield, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.  The Cadillac driver was not seriously injured.

The New Palestine Police Department, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team were called to the scene to investigate the incident.  It is not believed that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
