Woman seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - First responders were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident on the west side of Indianapolis Saturday night, WXIN reports.

A woman was struck by a vehicle and was in serious condition after being taken to Eskenazi Hospital, according to the Wayne Township Fire Department. The driver involved was not on the scene after the crash, which was being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Authorities said another driver apparently swerved to avoid the pedestrian, and ended up crashing into a building in the area.
